Teaching for Special Kids in Ubud

Join our teaching program for disabled children in Ubud!LeanIn volunteers will go to special schools to take care of children: Group A for children in wheelchairs, Group B for children with autism and ADHD, and Group C for children with Down syndrome. Volunteers will be divided into different groups to complete teaching tasks.

This project is established to heal these special children, with psychological counseling as the main approach. The main tasks include accompanying them to play, such as simple drawing, crossword puzzles, physical dancing, and so on. It is also possible to teach them some simple Chinese or English, so that they can better integrate into social life in the future.

Program Requirements

If you're planning to volunteer in Bali for less than 30 days, you can get a visa on arrival when you arrive. If you need more time, you can extend it for another 30 days.
If you're under 16, you have to have a parent or guardian with you for the program. And if you're 16 or 17 when your program starts, you need parental consent to join. A consent form will be required by our team.
Travel insurance is mandatory.

Program Schedule

Sunday:Arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), where LeanIn staff will coordinate pick-up services.
Monday:Conduct a brief teaching exchange session. Volunteers can select students to teach based on personal preferences.
In the afternoon, visit the school to become acquainted with the classes and students.
Tuesday:After familiarizing themselves with the children, volunteers will accompany them to spiritual healing activities, participate in playtime, and attend classes together.
Wednesday:Engage in recreational activities with the children, such as simple drawing, crossword puzzles, and body dancing.
Thursday:Continue teaching sessions, introducing basic Chinese or English to help children better integrate into social life.
Friday:Assist children from special groups in building confidence, providing emotional support, and facilitating learning.Upon completion of the school activities, volunteers will be awarded international volunteer certificates.
Saturday:Depart from the project site before noon. Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the airport or planning subsequent travel itineraries. Recommended destinations include Kuta Beach, the Sea Temple, and hiking up a volcano.

Accomodation Environment

• 2-3 people per room, with fans.
• Situated in a beautiful town surrounded by tropical rainforest, banana, coffee, and palm trees, volunteers begin their day in a beautiful natural environment with fresh air.
• The volunteer program runs from every Sunday to the following Saturday.

Roles & Responsibilities

Design individualized teaching plans for each child.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Teach basic academic skills like reading and math.
Assist children in developing daily living skills.
Monitor students' progress and adjust teaching accordingly.
