English Teaching in Colombo, Sri Lanka

The LeanIn Colombo Teaching Project in Sri Lanka is located in the suburbs of Colombo, Sri Lanka, about a 20-minute drive from the urban area. International volunteers will assist children from poor family backgrounds by teaching Chinese courses, aiming to help these children secure better employment opportunities in the future.

With the increasing number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka year by year, helping the children in Sri Lanka learn English can effectively enhance their competitiveness and lay a solid foundation for their future development.

Program Requirements

If you're planning to volunteer in Sri Lanka for less than 30 days, you can get the evisa. If you need more time, you can extend it for another 30 days.
If you're under 16, you have to have a parent or guardian with you for the program. And if you're 16 or 17 when your program starts, you need parental consent to join. A consent form will be required by our team.
Travel insurance is mandatory.

Program Schedule

The teaching time is from 8:30 am to 11:30 am from Monday to Friday.

Accomodation Environment

At Lean In House, there are 2 to 4 people sharing one room. There are Western-style bathrooms, air conditioners and hot water showers.
Accommodation for men and women is separated, and it meets the hotel star rating standards.
The volunteer program runs from every Sunday to the following Friday.

Roles & Responsibilities

Design interesting English courses for diverse learners.
Use effective teaching methods to enhance learning.
Provide timely feedback on students' assignments.
Organize language - related activities to boost interest.
Motivate students and help them overcome difficulties.
