The volunteer camps in Iceland are located in different regions: Northwest Hrutafjordur (2 hours by car from the capital Reykjavik), Northern Siglufjörður (5 hours by car from Reykjavik), and Western Krýsuvík (40 minutes by car from Reykjavik). Near Krýsuvík, you'll find many pristine and untouched natural environments, geothermal landscapes, and in the Northwest, the nearest town is Hvammstangi, which has a supermarket, health center, swimming pool, and a camping site by the cliffs. In the North, the area boasts spectacular natural beauty with awe-inspiring mountains and fjords. Outdoor activities and relaxation opportunities are almost endless.
No matter which camp you're assigned to (which you can choose based on personal preference), volunteers have the chance to travel to other parts of Iceland, including glaciers, waterfalls, strong rivers, canyons, and volcanic craters, during weekends. The goal of this project is to protect the natural landscapes and raise awareness about sustainable development among both locals and future visitors to the area.
